About Free Free Software
Free Free Software is a not-for-profit series of monthly public demonstrations of Free Open Source Software (FOSS). They are organised by firebox.nu FOSS Training, in the hope that there will be enough interest to support a business providing FOSS training and further extol and demonstrate the virtues of Free Free Software.
All materials from both the public demonstrations and firebox.nu FOSS workshops will be published under a Creative Commons license on firebox.nu
Aims
- Increase public awareness of FOSS applications (‘apps’).
- Demonstrate the capabilities of different FOSS apps.
- Provide a gateway for finding out more about FOSS.
- Supply quick links to common FOSS apps.
Mindset
We believe more people would use Free Open Source Software if they a) knew about it and b) had access to sensibly priced training. We are not opposed to proprietary software, rather that most people would benefit financially and socially by using FOSS applications.
People
Jake Rayson is the main driving force behind Free Free Software. A Bristol resident, he used to lecture in Web Design at the University West of England, and has worked as a front-end designer/builder in industry for many years. He is now setting up firebox.nu FOSS Training as a new business venture.
